Hamburg. Heights, water, fire. And a Bronto.

Four days in Hamburg.
Firefighters. 70 meters above the Elbe.
A project for Bronto Skylift – real, loud, northern.
Hamburg in October. Grey skies, cold air, perfect light.
The flight from Bolzano to Hamburg – direct, easy.
Just the essentials in my bag: camera, lights, audio, drone, two shirts, one jacket.
That’s all you need when you know what you’re there for.
Then it began.
For Bronto Skylift, I got to go high – together with the Hamburg Fire Department.
We filmed right in the city – next to the Elbphilharmonie, down at the harbor.
Even inside the customs zone, where no one usually gets in.
No one – except PAPA.
70 meters up. Wind. Water. Radio chatter.
That’s where Bronto feels at home – and so do I.
Yes, we staged it – but not for show. We staged it to show what the fire department and this machine can do. A bit of sabre-rattling in the best possible way: precision, trust, world-class organization.
I got to be right in the middle – filming, photographing, asking questions.
Breathing a bit of firefighting air, height included.
Between the crackle of radios, commands, and real team spirit.
No studio. No extras. Just people who know their job –
and a vehicle proving that safety can be spectacular.
Weather made me stay an extra night – flight cancelled. Didn’t mind.
It was an experience.
It was real. Raw. And me: ready.
The finished project? Coming soon.
And it’s going to be high – literally.
